Andros has a population of 8 180 and is the largest and least-explored island in the bahamas. It is actually a series of islands and cays connected by a series of canals/passages called bights. Mostly flat, its 5 957 square kilometres are full of lakes and creeks, and most of the local residents live along the shore. The main villages are nicholl's town, andros town, and congo town.
